Our Wishes so far

  • A week in West Wales

A couple going through cancer treatment for the second time wished for a week by the sea in West Wales. In Autumn 2024, the couple along with their greyhound spent a week in a Shepherd’s Hut in Llangrannog.

‘It was SUPERB! We feel totally relaxed, as if a ‘reset’ button has been pressed… All I can say, is thank you, thank you, thank you!’ - E

  • A break for Christmas

A family were struggling with their living conditions. The son has autism and learning difficulties and struggles hugely with the noise coming from their neighbour’s late night parties. The couple have been worried about the toll on their son’s mental health. They contacted Dandelion Wishes not knowing where else to turn and were desperate to stay together as a family. Their wish was to go away for Christmas and get away from it all for a bit. Dandelion Wishes arranged for the family to have a week in the countryside over Christmas.

‘Dandelion Wishes came into our lives at a very dark and desperate time. They saw how broken we were by circumstances beyond our control. Because of their kindness and compassion we have been able to enjoy a peaceful Christmas away from it all. It has been a Christmas miracle and we are so very grateful. We can never thank Esther enough for her help.’ - L, A and I

  • A weekend away

A couple going through breast cancer treatment had experienced several family bereavements and just wanted some time away together. The couple spent a weekend away in the lovely market town of Monmouth.

‘I can’t express how grateful we are. The last 6 months have been so tough with my cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment, together with the loss of my dad in November and the unexpected loss of my brother just two weeks ago. I have struggled to get through this and have really been on autopilot. The break that you gave us was magical. It gave me and my partner time to sit and talk and ponder and find some positives in everything that has so recently happened. Your gift to us was one of those positives and very precious. It has been a perfect tonic. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ve come back feeling stronger and more at peace with everything thanks to you.’ - S

  • A new patio

A lovely garden patio allowing the owner to potter around in her garden while allowing plenty of rests in between. It will also mean she can invite people over, preventing loneliness and isolation.

  • In Time for Christmas

A young mum had recently moved into her first property with her toddler after being homeless. She had struggled with her mental health since the age of 10. The property had many problems and it was all proving to be a struggle. T’s wish was to have an oven to cook homemade food for herself and her toddler and a carpet for her son's room. ‘As the winter months are coming I want him to be warm without having the wear a hat and scarf indoors.’

‘This has helped me more than you'll ever know, knowing that my son will have a nice clean carpet that he can play his cars on and not have to worry about it being grubby and knowing I can cook decent healthy food for us has drastically had a positive impact on my mental health, it seems small to most but for us it's a true blessing.’
